I
cannot explain the miraculous events that have occurred in the last 2
years of my life. However, Resurrection House has played a very
important role – and continues to surprise me when I least expect it.
Soon
after Oliver was born, he became very ill. For months, we were
continually in the doctor’s office. Nothing worked and he needed a
specialist. But, with
Medicaid,
I was placed on a long waiting list.
Meanwhile, I was losing many days at work and finally
couldn’t keep up. I was behind in the rent and my situation did not
look good. However, something I was learning about was faith, praying,
and trusting in a power I couldn’t see. I was told to sit still and
pray and that’s exactly what I did. Within two weeks, Sister Rose – a
woman I had been doing volunteer work for – introduced me to the
Resurrection House case manager. I was accepted into the program and
the rest is my prayer delivered and blessings received.
For
almost a year, I have lived here (Resurrection House) under the care
and protection of God. Oliver was able to have surgery and I was able
to be there to care for him. He’s a very active, healthy little boy
today. I believe that God works through people and my experience at
Resurrection House demonstrates that.
I have been given an opportunity to live in a safe
place with the promise of hope for the future. Resurrection House
offers me continual guidance with career choices, life skills to build
on, special counseling, financial assistance and training, food and
clothing, a reading program for my son, and most important, spiritual
direction to help me explore the importance of faith in my life. I am
encouraged to seek and I am praised when hurdles are overcome.
I still have a long way to go, but I’m not just looking
for the final destination. I’m looking forward to the journey itself
and rejoicing in how precious each day has become.
Thank you!
